Dr. Flora Katsnelson
Dr. Flora Katsnelson (June 27, 1974 – November 26, 2023) was a co-founder of Fibroid Fighters and has long been a leader in improving access to quality healthcare. She also co-founded USA Clinics Group, the parent company of USA Fibroid Centers, USA Vein Clinics, USA Vascular Centers, USA Hemorrhoid Centers, USA Prostate Centers, and USA Longevity Centers. She was a talented physician, respected executive, business owner, philanthropist, wife to Dr. Yan Katsnelson, and proud mother.
She was born in the former Soviet Union and lived in Ukraine, Poland, Austria, and Italy before she arrived in the United States. Shortly after her arrival, she received magna cum laude with honors from the University of Chicago. She then completed her medical education at the Sackler School of Medicine with rotations at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, the University of Chicago Hospitals, and many hospitals in Israel. She finished her residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Katsnelson also founded Northwest Health Institute, which provided high-quality, efficient, and personalized primary care services.
Dr. Katsnelson was a member of the international board of the Save A Child’s Heart Foundation and served as president of its Chicago chapter. She also held memberships in the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Vein and Lymphatic Society (formerly the American College of Phlebology), and other highly regarded medical societies and organizations. She received many awards and was recognized in the Cambridge Who’s Who.
Dr. Katsnelson participated in research projects in various medical fields including endocrinology, gastroenterology, and cardiovascular medicine. She also authored and co-authored medical and scientific publications and was directly involved in educating and training medical students and residents. Dr. Katsnelson’s knowledge, expertise, and patient care made her a leader in the healthcare industry.
The Flora Katsnelson Award for Excellence was established in 2024 to honor her legacy as a visionary leader dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities. This prestigious award recognizes individuals or organizations that demonstrate exceptional leadership and commitment to advancing health equity, improving access to care, and inspiring individuals to take charge of their well-being.
