Fibroid Awareness Month Feature on ABC 7 NY

July 22,2025

ABC 7 NY recently featured Dr. Yan Katsnelson, Founder of Fibroid Fighters Foundation, in its Local Spotlight segment as part of Fibroid Awareness Month. In the interview, Dr. Katsnelson spoke candidly about the widespread impact of uterine fibroids which are non-cancerous growths in or on the uterus that affect millions of women nationwide.

He outlined common symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, frequent urination, and abdominal bloating. Dr. Katsnelson, Founder and CEO of USA Clinics Group, also addressed the toll fibroids can take on a woman’s emotional well-being, fertility, and quality of life. Left untreated, fibroids can lead to serious complications, including difficulty getting pregnant and an increased risk of miscarriage.

The conversation also covered treatment options, including uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), a minimally invasive procedure that preserves the uterus and offers a valuable alternative to more invasive surgeries like hysterectomy. Dr. Katsnelson emphasized findings from a recent study that support UFE as a safe, effective option for women seeking relief from fibroid symptoms.

In addition to raising awareness, Dr. Katsnelson used the opportunity to highlight “Your Health in Full Bloom”, an upcoming health advocacy event hosted by the Fibroid Fighters Foundation. The event will take place on July 24, 2025, at the New York Marriott Marquis in Times Square. The event is designed to bring together healthcare experts, patient advocates, and public figures to raise awareness and foster open conversations about fibroids and full body health.
