Empowering Fibroid Awareness Sisters’ Brunch Tackles Uterine Fibroids in Washington D.C.

July 11,2024

The Fibroid Fighters Foundation hosted a successful “Sisters’ Fibroid Awareness Brunch” on June 29th, 2024, in Washington D.C., bringing together women to raise awareness about uterine fibroids. Held at Georgia Brown’s Restaurant, the event offered a warm and supportive environment for education, connection, and empowerment.

Celebrity makeup artist and Fibroid Ambassador Kym Lee, who chaired the event, stressed the importance of raising awareness, highlighting fibroids as the most common gynecological condition despite a lack of prioritization.

The brunch didn’t just offer informative talks. An opening musical performance by Levi Stephens set the tone, followed by an interactive panel discussion. Women living with fibroids shared their personal experiences managing the condition and exploring treatment options. Ivory Twyman, a local entrepreneur who underwent UFE treatment, were among the inspiring panelists.

The event wasn’t just about individual stories; it fostered a sense of community. Attendees were able to connect with each other, offering and receiving support in a safe space.

The brunch served as a successful kick-off to Fibroid Awareness Month in July. Building on this momentum, Fibroid Fighters will host another event, “A Night in Full Bloom,” on July 25th in New York City. This evening gathering promises educational discussions on the latest advancements in fibroid treatment, networking opportunities, and entertainment.
