Fibroid Awareness Month: Building a National Network of Support

June 27,2024

July is Fibroid Awareness Month, a time to bring attention to a condition that affects 26 million women across the United States. Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that grow in or around the uterus, causing a wide range of uncomfortable symptoms. Yet, despite their prevalence, fibroids remain a topic shrouded in secrecy and misinformation.

This is where organizations like the Fibroid Fighters Foundation step in, offering support, education, and hope for those living with fibroids. Our mission is a commitment to empowering women that extends far beyond awareness campaigns – we are actively working to equip women with knowledge and resources so they can make informed decisions about their health.

Building a National Network of Support

Leading up to Fibroid Awareness Month, Fibroid Fighters has been busy hosting a series of impactful events across the country. These events provided a platform for open dialogue, shared experiences, and most importantly, education on minimally invasive treatment options.

  • In May, Atlanta, Georgia, we hosted a Mother’s Day Brunch featuring celebrity guest Cynthia Bailey. This event fostered a space for women to connect and learn from one another, while raising awareness about fibroids.
  • June saw Washington D.C. come alive with the “Sister’s Brunch” hosted by makeup artist and fibroid advocate Kym Lee. This empowering event encouraged open discussions about fibroids and highlighted the importance of prioritizing women’s health.
  • Finally, at the end of July, New York City’s “A Night in Full Bloom” event will offer an evening dedicated to education and hope. This event allowed women to gain valuable insights into the latest advancements in fibroid treatment, while fostering a sense of community and support.

Beyond the Events: A Legacy of Empowerment

These events highlight the Fibroid Fighters Foundation’s dedication to building a national network of support for women with fibroids. But their impact goes beyond the gatherings themselves. The organization offers a wealth of resources on their website, including information about fibroids, treatment options, and ways to connect with other women facing similar challenges.

By educating women about minimally invasive treatment options, the Fibroid Fighters Foundation empowers them to take control of their health. They shed light on the reality – women have a choice when it comes to fibroid treatment.
