Bronx President Gibson Continues Fight for Fibroid Awareness

October 29,2024

Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson continues to be an advocate for women’s health, particularly in the fight against fibroids. The Bronx Times reported on Gibson’s attendance at “Healthy Conversations,” an event hosted by NYC Health + Hospitals medical providers. This event provided a platform for women to discuss important health issues, including fibroids, both in-person and virtually.

Gibson has been a vocal supporter of Fibroid Fighters, attending “A Night in Full Bloom,” the annual fibroid awareness event hosted this past July. Fibroid Fighters Founder, Dr. Yan Katsnelson, was honored with a Merit of Citation from Bronx President Gibson. This award recognizes Dr. Katsnelson’s dedication to raising awareness about fibroids and advocating for uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) as a minimally invasive treatment option.

Fibroid Fighters reinforces the importance of early detection and accessible treatment options. Gibson’s continued commitment to raising awareness about fibroids aligns with Fibroid Fighters’ mission to empower women and provide them with the information and resources they need to manage this widespread health condition.
